Mentors Information and Guide
If you would like to submit a GSoC project proposal as a mentor in the future, please contact one of the Open Data Hub organisation administrators by sending an email to help@opendatahub.com.
A comprehensive mentoring guide is available here.
Contributor’s Guide
GSoC contributor applications are open from 16 March to 31 March 2026.
The list of proposed projects is available at: Project idea’s page
Please verify your eligibility by reviewing https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/rules/, particularly section 7.1 “GSoC Contributors”.
We encourage you to familiarise yourself with the Open Data Hub’s communication channels, shared below.
Communication Channels
Element Matrix
Join our Element Matrix channel: Element’s Matrix
Note: If you experience difficulty joining the channel, please contact us at help@opendatahub.com
Do not use Element matrix to submit your project proposals (see mailing list for that), neither as a one-on-one mean of comunication with your mentors. Please note many mentors are not on Element Matrix.
Mailing List
Contact us at help@opendatahub.com
We have an internal mailing list that all mentors can read, use this for any kind of communication that should be private and you might not want other contributors to see. Examples:
- Proposal drafts for feedback
- New project ideas
- Personal matters

How to Apply
Follow these steps if you are interested in participating in GSoC 2026:
- Read this page thoroughly
- Review the list of project ideas for 2026: Project idea’s page
- Identify one or two projects that interest you, or develop your own project idea
- Find the relevant mentors and their preferred communication channels
- (Optional) Join Element to connect with other contributors, review existing discussions, and ask questions
- Set up the development environment, review the project documentation, and attempt to run it locally
- Consider how you might approach the mentor’s ideas and clarify any questions
- Begin drafting your proposal, feel free to use the proposal template below.
- Submit your draft to the mentors' mailing list for feedback (Google Docs or PDF format)
- Submit your final proposal through the Google Summer of Code website
Your proposal should include:
- A list of deliverables
- A detailed project description
- Your technical approach
- An approximate timeline
- Your background and motivation
Please indicate any commitments during the GSoC period, including employment (part-time or full-time), examinations, holidays, or other obligations that may affect your availability.
We recommend keeping your application to approximately four pages.
We strongly encourage you to contact the Open Data Hub project through the mentors' mailing list before submitting your proposal via the GSoC website. Discussing details in advance improves your application. Please note that proposals cannot be modified after the submission deadline.
Submit your proposal to: help@opendatahub.com. The deadline is 06 March 2026.
If you wish to submit your proposals after the deadline, please contact us via the email above.
